Blessing in disguise?

Well as devastated as I was to see my country depart from the World Cup on Monday morning, it did help me with my writing. As after Australia was eliminated out of the cup I was able to take my emotion out of the cup too.
So I have spent the last four days head down, arse up writing again.... and it feels liberating, knowing that I am writing about an event that has true emotional connections for me.

Just like this Australian World Cup campaign did....

As for the final victor, my heart says England or Portugal.... but my head can't ignore Brazil.

Community Cup

On Sunday I went down to the Junction Oval in StKilda to see what this 'Community Cup' was all about.

I was soon to discover that the football game going on in the middle (yeah there was a game on) was merely the means by which to get everybody together..... how you actually spent that time together, well that was the fun part of the whole thing.

I hope the photos tell the story of how the day..... progressed? No, more like digressed....

But it was truly a memorable day, and really glad to be part of it.

Hope to catch all you "nerds" again soon....

Easier said than done

No progress today..... at the start of the day I set about dedicating it to writing and it's now 7pm and where have I got.... fucking no where. It's like I see this picture in my head of how everything should look, but when it comes to putting it down on paper, useless. I can't concentrate on it. I find too many easy distractions..... it's pathetic. I set these targets that sound very reasonable and achievable, then after a few weeks I see that I haven't got there and it makes me feel guilty, but instead of knuckling down all I do is think about how much is still ahead of me and I then avoid it all together..... I've seriously got to pull myself together, as I can see a bad pattern forming here....

A damn good novel?

About a month ago a friend recommended a must read book to help with my novel. It was hard to get hold of, but last week it finally arrived and yesterday I just finished reading it.

This book has really made me re-think my whole approach to writing, and I'm glad I hadn't written anymore before I read this book. With it's teachings and further practice I feel just maybe one day I will produce a manuscript worth publishing, with any luck it could be this one.

Moments in time.....

I wrote this the other day when adrenaline levels were maxing off the charts...... Thanks to Australia getting their first ever World Cup victory against Japan 3-1.

I hadn't written an NNN in about four months, but my emotions demanded a written outlet...

NNN Bulletin

Moments in time are only enjoyed by those who are
awake to witness their glory,

Today was one such occasion..... As when it comes to the world stage there is none bigger than that of the World Game's Cup.
Births are made of it's victories and alas, deaths have been made of it's defeats.

It truly is the only world game that exists. Thus it is on this stage and only this stage that a
sporting country has the opportunity to stand up and be judged by it's global peers...

In the past this judgement has proved too much for many a proud footballing nation.... like the winless England campaign of 58 and likewise Argentina's effort's in 82. Two truly football entrenched nations... but at the time, also two nations not ready for the occasion...

So how does it be that a nation of mere Oceania decent make an impact of a truly global demand....

Your answer:

Heart.... And Heart alone.

For scary as it sounds, tomorrow many Australian's will wake up still not knowing who there first Prime Minister was, but there is no doubt they will sleep in the night knowing all too well who their first World Cup goal scorer was...

A man by the name of Tim Cahill has etched his name in the history of Australian sport.... and now it is up to us, not to forget it!

I know I won't....

This NNN interlude was created on the back of a love
for the game...
